ManageEngine Adds Auto-Provisioning of Cloud Resources To Applications Manager; Ensures Continuous SaaS Performance
Austin, TX, May 24, 2011-- ManageEngine, makers of a globally renowned suite of cost effective network, systems, applications and security management software solutions, today announced the addition of automated cloud resource provisioning capabilities to ManageEngine Applications Manager, the company's widely deployed server and application performance monitoring software.
Web-based applications are particularly susceptible to sudden surges in traffic. When surges occur, the load on the related web servers spikes and the application’s performance often suffers. To successfully handle such peak traffic situations, the IT team must quickly provision additional server resources without bringing the service down.
The enhanced cloud monitoring capabilities announced today enable IT administrators using ManageEngine Applications Manager to automate the provisioning of cloud resources so that server adjustments are automatically made whenever threshold levels are exceeded. For example, Applications Manager can add, start or stop Amazon EC2 instances when the response time of an application or server falls outside pre-set thresholds.
With ManageEngine Applications Manager automatically tuning resources to ensure optimal cloud computing application performance, IT professionals spend less time on administration, reduce operating costs and improve resource allocation. All the while, business-critical applications and services running in the cloud are assured of sufficient resources at all times.
When combined with ManageEngine's out-of-the-box support for application servers, web services, middleware and databases, spanning physical and virtual infrastructures, the automatic cloud resource provisioning capability becomes even more powerful.
Today's announcement follows the automated virtual machine management and cloud monitoring capabilities announced earlier this year and is further evidence of ManageEngine’s commitment to improving the ease of IT management in physical, virtual and cloud environments.
"Since most IT environments today are a hybrid of physical, virtual and cloud entities, any performance slowdown in an application can affect the performance of related cloud services," said Gibu Mathew, program manager, Applications Performance Management solutions at ManageEngine. "By automating the provisioning of cloud resources based on the performance levels of the underlying infrastructure, IT departments can ensure their business-critical cloud services are not affected by failures of the physical components. Applications Manager's out-of-the-box support for more than 50 applications and servers makes auto-provisioning simple and effective in a variety of business environments."
