2021 became the year people hoped to strive for a better tomorrow. We were not surprised anymore. We knew what we were dealing with.

We learnt to adapt and overcome. Hybrid working became a new standard. With our innate drive to survive, this year, we at ManageEngine rose above hurdles and kept improving our solutions, making them better than ever, and adapting them to new demands.

Identity management
taken to the
next level

ADManager Plus gained several noteworthy features that helped admins take their identity management game to the next level.

  • Admins can now create Microsoft 365 groups, Distribution/Security Mail enabled groups and Dynamic distribution groups in single and bulk, with all entitlements easily and quickly, using the new group creation templates.
  • GPO reporting has been enhanced with the addition of four new reports - GPOs with specific settings, GPO settings, GPOs with Script, and Compare GPO Versions report.
  • Enhanced Netapp and Isilon support manages and reports on access permissions in NetApp and Isilon storage.
  • Out-of-the-box integration with ServiceDesk Plus Cloud, Jira and Freshservice enables admins to perform IAM actions like user onboarding and offboarding, enabling, disabling, unlocking and deleting user accounts, and resetting passwords from within the help desk console.
  • ADManager Plus provides the option to configure TLS protocol with cipher suites, for greater security.
  • Users or technicians can be blocked from logging onto ADManager Plus after the specified number of failed logon attempts.
  • There is now support for the MS SQL database in Azure AD for product databases.
  • A different set of roles can be delegated for each OU within a domain for help desk technicians.
  • File server permissions can be modified in bulk through CSV.

Enhanced change
auditing for 360° visibility

ADAudit Plus' environment monitoring and auditing capabilities got an upgrade this year.

  • Audit file accesses and permission changes across Huawei OceanStor storage systems.
  • Track DNS service status, scavenging activity, zone changes, record changes, configuration changes, and more.
  • Utilize AD Replication auditing to monitor the start and end time of replication, track replication changes and failures, and more.
  • Store user logon reports in the DataEngine for faster search and reporting.

Password management and security adapted to suit the needs of today

ADSelfService Plus received a host of updates that make it capable of catering to the demands of mobile and hybrid workforce.

  • Zoho OneAuth's OTP authenticator can be used as an MFA method to verify users' identities during password reset and account unlock actions, ADSelfService Plus logins, and machines and VPN logins.
  • ADSelfService Plus and other SSO-enabled applications can now be accessed by passwordless login using advanced authentication methods such as biometrics, YubiKey, Google Authenticator, etc.
  • Now you can enforce mandatory enrollment to ADSelfService Plus from login screens and require implementing MFA for machine access.
  • The authentication factor set-up for service provider-initiated SSO-enabled application logins is now customizable.
  • ADSelfService Plus now offers OAuth and OpenID Connect-based single sign-on, for any enterprise application that supports these protocols, to supplement the already existing SAML support.
  • Exchange environments can be strongly secured with a dedicated MFA setup using over 17 advanced authentication methods, for Outlook on the Web and Exchange admin center logins.
  • ADSelfService Plus now supports SSO to the on-premises version of ManageEngine ServiceDesk Plus.
  • Azure AD MFA can now be used for identity verification during self-service reset/unlock; self-service portal login; cloud application, machine, and OWA logins. This method is supported in both web and mobile applications.

Microsoft Exchange monitoring made more comprehensive

More comprehensive alerting and reporting categories for Exchange Reporter Plus to make it a stronger Microsoft Exchange reporting and monitoring solution.

  • Exchange Reporter Plus features six new alert categories for email traffic.
  • While scheduling Traffic Logs gathering task, users can now choose to receive alert notifications based on six different criteria.
    1. Sent mail count: When the number of emails sent (including internal, external, and both) from the configured mailboxes during the set time interval exceeds the threshold value.
    2. Received mail count: When the number of emails received (including internal, external, and both) by the configured mailboxes during the set time interval exceeds the threshold value.
    3. Recipients count: When the total number of recipients of an email sent (including internal, external, and both) exceeds the threshold value.
    4. Sent mail sizestrong>: When a single email (internal, external, and both) of a size larger than a set threshold is sent from the configured mailboxes.
    5. Received mail size: When a single email (internal, external, and both) of a size larger than a set threshold is received by the configured mailboxes.
    6. Undelivered emails: Notifications will be provided to the senders and recipients of an undelivered email (sent from the selected mailboxes) citing the possible reasons for delivery failure.
  • A new report under the Advanced Audit category tracks when, where, and who created or deleted a public folder.
  • All email traffic reports can now be fetched using the Elasticsearchstrong> option that helps increase the data collection speed.

Backup and recovery upgraded to tackle the challenges of 2022.

RecoveryManager Plus is now capable of backing up and restoring from more avenues to keep your environments fall victim to unexpected disasters.

  • Admins can backup and restore all objects from an Azure AD environment, including users, groups, devices, applications, directory roles, and domains. Admins can also restore, to their backed up state, entire objects or just specific object attributes.
  • Backing up and restoring all items in Gmail and user drive data is now possible.
    1. Gmail backup and restoration: Back up and restore all items, such as emails, contacts, calendar entries, journals, notes, posts, and tasks. When performing a restoration, you have the flexibility to perform:
      1. Complete mailbox restoration: Restore entire mailboxes to their backed up state.
      2. Item-level restoration: Recover individual items such as a single email or a note.
      3. Restoration to different mailboxes: Restore backed up mailbox items to the same mailbox or to a different mailbox.
    2. Google Drive backup: Back up all files and folders in your drive and restore them when needed.
    3. Personal Google account backup: Back up personal as well as organizational Google accounts.
  • RecoveryManager Plus now enables admins and technicians to login to the application using smart cards, PKIs, and certificates.

  • Choose to fetch only incremental changes for user, mailbox, contact and group reports after the first sync, to save time and increase efficiency.
  • Database backup and restore, and update features are now available for MS SQL users.
