A distinct shortcoming of Microsoft 365 is the unavailability of a robust backup and restoration feature for OneDrive for Business. Microsoft provides a Recycle Bin that stores deleted objects for 90 days, but Microsoft 365 does not provide a way to recover items that were deleted earlier. Administrators need to be armed with a backup and recovery solution that can help them recover from any kind of data deletion or modification.
RecoveryManager Plus backs up all items in your OneDrive for Business sites and provides a few ways to get your data back:
Item-level restoration
OneDrive for Business protects against accidental deletions by allowing you to recover items deleted in the last 90 days. After 90 days, the deleted items are purged from the Recycle Bin and cannot be recovered. With RecoveryManager Plus, you can restore any deleted item from your OneDrive for Business site, regardless of how long ago it was deleted.
You can also restore the items to the exact location from which they were deleted, or restore the item to a new OneDrive for Business site depending on your needs.
Site-level restoration
Ransomware has the ability to encrypt all files and folders on your OneDrive for Business sites using the OneDrive Sync Client, and can also wipe all site data. In cases like these, administrators need to be armed with a backup and recovery solution with which they can restore the entire OneDrive for Business site to a point before the ransomware attack.
With RecoveryManager Plus, you can restore entire OneDrive for Business sites from backup in a few simple clicks, and nullify any ransomware threat.
Download backed up data
With RecoveryManager Plus, you can directly download the files and folders from any OneDrive for Business backup, even if the file or folder is not present in the cloud. This allows you to retain a copy of very large files safely in your environment, and also ensures you’re not filing up the storage quota in your sites.
