On October 4, 2019, Click2Mail realized that it had become a victim of a massive data breach that compromised sensitive personal information of its customers. Personal details including names, organization names, account mailing addresses, email addresses, and phone numbers may have been exposed.
Click2Mail noticed that attackers used the stolen email addresses and sent spam emails to all the registered customers. Since they immediately hired a cybersecurity expert to fix the issue, they were able to detect and close the intrusion point on the same day. Fortunately, Click2Mail did not store credit card details in their database, so customers’ financial data was not stolen.
The cybersecurity firm is currently in the process of reviewing all Click2Mail's IT systems and implementing steps to ensure that similar incidents don't occur in the future. Click2Mail is in the process of notifying over 200,000 registrants regarding the breach.
