Sportswear label Puma was a victim of a ransomware attack confirmed in January 2022. The attackers stole data of 6,632 Puma employees in the ransomware attack that affected Ultimate Kronos Group (UKG) HR management tools. The stolen information includes names, Social Security numbers, and other personal information.
During the investigation following the attack, UKG discovered that Puma was one of the customers impacted by the incident. “Regrettably, this letter is to inform you that we were recently the victim of a ransomware attack that involved some of your personal information, which was provided to us in connection with the services we provide to PUMA,” UKG said in a letter sent to the affected individuals in February.
The company said it has taken the necessary steps to bolster its IT security measures to prevent future attacks. The victims have been offered a two-year membership of Experian IdentityWorks, which comes with credit monitoring, identify restoration, and identity theft insurance.
