You are unable to view the phone number of a device from the MDM server and see the error message "Phone number is not detected".
You will get this error message due to the following reasons:
Resolution
No SIM card is installed in device
Ensure that there is a valid SIM card installed on the device. Also, ensure it's not an iPad without a SIM card.
Phone number status in the device is 'Unknown'
For Android devices
Navigate to Settings -> About Phone -> Status on your Android device. Ensure that the status displayed is not Unknown, and your phone number is visible there. Else, MDM cannot fetch the phone number on the device.
For iOS devices
Navigate to Settings -> General -> About -> Cellular Data Number or Mobile Data Number on your iOS device. Ensure that the status displayed is not Unknown, and your phone number is visible there. Else, MDM cannot fetch the phone number on the device.
Alternatively, connect the iOS device to iTunes and check the device information displayed. If the Mobile Data Number is displayed as Unknown, MDM cannot fetch the phone number in the device.
