Potential Security Risk Ahead
Problem
Users primarily encounter the "Potential Security Risk Ahead" warning in the On-Premise version of the software when attempting to reach the server.
Cause
This error can be triggered by several factors:
- Self Signed or Incorrect SSL Certificate:Self-Signed or Incorrect SSL Certificate: The server might be using a self-signed certificate, prompting this warning in the browser, which can be skipped. Alternatively, an incorrect or invalid SSL certificate may have been added to the server, leading to trust issues.
- Proxy Interference:The device might be connected to a proxy server that is not using a properly trusted SSL certificate, resulting in the security warning.
- Date Mismatch:The date and time on the device might not match with those on the server, leading to discrepancies in certificate validation.
Resolution
- Verify SSL Certificate:
- Ensure that the correct SSL certificate is installed on the server.
- The certificate should be valid, not expired, and correctly configured to match the server’s domain name.
- Replace any incorrect or invalid certificates with a valid one issued by a trusted Certificate Authority (CA).
- Check Proxy Settings:
- Verify if the device is connected to a proxy server.
- Ensure that the proxy server is using proper trusted SSL Certificate.
- If necessary, configure the proxy settings to allow SSL/TLS traffic without interception.
- Synchronize Date and Time:
- Ensure that the date and time settings on both the device and the server are synchronized and set to the correct time zone, correcting any discrepancies for proper certificate validation.
