How to configure backup repositories for your backups in RecoveryManager Plus?

RecoveryManager Plus provides support for multiple repositories to store your Active Directory, Entra ID, Microsoft 365, Exchange, Google Workspace, and Zoho WorkDrive backups.

This post will explain how you can configure these repositories in RecoveryManager Plus.

Configuring local backup repository.

You can store the backups of all the applications in the local repository. To add a local repository, follow the steps listed below.

• Log in to RecoveryManager Plus as an administrator.
• Navigate to the Admin tab > Administration > Backup Repository > Local.
• Click the Add repository button in the top-right corner.
• Enter a name in the Repository Name field.
• Enter the local path where you wish to save the backups in the Repository Path field.
• If required, you can select Authentication and provide the credentials of a user who can read/write in the specified local path.
• Click Save.

  

Configuring NAS or shared backup repository

You can store the backups of all the applications in the NAS or shared repository. Additionally, this repository is also used to store the product database backup. To add a NAS or shared repository, follow the steps listed below.

1. Log in to RecoveryManager Plus as an administrator.
2. Navigate to the Admin tab > Administration > Backup Repository > NAS/Shared.
3. Click the Add repository button in the top-right corner.
4. Enter a name in the Repository Name field.
5. Enter the NAS or shared path where you wish to save the backups in the Repository Path field.
6. In the Username and Password fields, provide the credentials of a user who can read/write in the specified local path.
7. Click Save.

   

Configuring cloud backup repository

You can store the backups of all the applications on the cloud in Azure blob storage and Azure Files.

Adding an Azure blob storage as a repository

1. Log in to RecoveryManager Plus as an administrator.
2. Navigate to the Admin tab > Administration > Backup Repository > Cloud.
3. Click the Add repository button in the top-right corner.
4. Select Azure Blob Storage as the repository type.
5. Provide a name for the repository.
6. Provide the Account name and Account Key of the Azure storage account.
7. Provide the Root Container Name.

   Note: Metadata of the Microsoft 365, Exchange, and Google Workspace backups will be stored in the default Elasticsearch node.

8. Click Save.

   

Adding an Azure File as a repository

1. Log in to RecoveryManager Plus as an administrator.
2. Navigate to the Admin tab > Administration > Backup Repository > Cloud.
3. Click the Add repository button in the top-right corner.
4. Select Azure File Shares as the repository type.
5. Provide a name for the repository.
6. Provide the Account name and Account Key of the Azure storage account.
7. Provide the File Share Name.

   Note: Metadata of the Microsoft 365, Exchange, and Google Workspace backups will be stored in the default Elasticsearch node.

8. Click Save.

   

Configure RecoveryManager Plus to store your Active Directory backups in the configured repository

1. Navigate to the Active Directory tab > Settings > Backup Settings.
2. Click the icon located in the Action column of the relevant domain.
3. Select the newly created repository in which you wish to store the backups from the Select Archive Repository drop-down box.
4. Click Save.

   

   Your backups will now be stored in the selected repository.

Configure RecoveryManager Plus to store your Entra ID backups in the configured repository

1. Navigate to the Azure AD tab > Settings > Backup Settings.
2. Click the icon located in the Action column of the relevant domain.
3. Select the newly created repository in which you wish to store the backups from the Select Archive Repository drop-down box.
4. Click Save.

   

   Your backups will now be stored in the selected repository.

Configure RecoveryManager Plus to store your Exchange backups in the configured repository

1. Navigate to the Exchange tab > Backup & Restore > Backup Settings.
2. Click the icon located in the Action column of the relevant tenant.
3. Select the newly created repository in which you wish to store the backups from the Select Repository drop-down box, in the Scheduler & Repository section.
4. Click Save.

   

   Your backups will now be stored in the selected repository.

Configure RecoveryManager Plus to store your SharePoint & OneDrive backups in the configured repository

1. Navigate to the SharePoint & OneDrive tab > SharePoint & OneDrive > Backup Settings.
2. Click the icon located in the Action column of the relevant tenant.
3. Select the newly created repository in which you wish to store the backups from the Select Repository drop-down box, in the Scheduler & Repository section.
4. Click Save.

   

   Your backups will now be stored in the selected repository.

Configure RecoveryManager Plus to store your Google Workspace backups in the configured repository

1. Navigate to the Google Workspace tab > Google Workspace > Backup Settings.
2. Click the icon located in the Action column of the relevant account.
3. Select the newly created repository in which you wish to store the backups from the Select Repository drop-down box.
4. Click Save.

   

   Your backups will now be stored in the selected repository.

Configure RecoveryManager Plus to store your Zoho WorkDrive backups in the configured repository

1. Navigate to the Zoho WorkDrive tab > Zoho WorkDrive > Backup Settings.
2. Click the icon located in the Action column of the relevant team.
3. Select the newly created repository in which you wish to store the backups from the Select Repository drop-down box.
4. Click Save.

   

   Your backups will now be stored in the selected repository.
