Contact migration
ADManager Plus offers both inter-forest and intra-forest contact migration across the domains in your Active Directory environment.
Steps to migrate contacts using ADManager Plus
- Log in to ADManager Plus and navigate to the Management tab.
- In the left pane, click Migration.
- Under Migration, click Contact Migration.
- Select the domain from which you'd like to migrate contacts in the Source Domain field.
- Select the contacts that you'd like to migrate in the Select Contact(s) to be Migrated field.
- Select the domain and OU to which you'd like to migrate the selected contacts in the Target Domain and Target OU fields, respectively.
- Under OU Option, choose one of the following.
- Migrate objects directly to the selected Target OU as a flat list: This option migrates the contact as it is into the selected target OU.
- Migrate objects along with their OU hierarchy to the selected Target OU: This option migrates the contact and the OU the contact is a part of in the source to the target domain.
- Under Conflict Handling, select one of the following options to avoid any duplication during migration.
- Apply this Naming Format: Select the desired naming format that must be used to resolve the conflict while migrating the contact from the drop-down.
- You have the option to either append or increment the suffix of the contact's conflicted attribute value.
- Do not migrate if conflict is detected: Choose this option if you prefer not to migrate the duplicate contact.
- Click Preview to view and edit the list of conflicts and selected contacts, then click Review to view the final migration list.
- Click Migrate Now to migrate the selected contacts.
Note: When migrating a contact from one forest to another, a folder is temporarily created on the migrating domain controllers, which will be automatically deleted after the migration process.
