How to restore DNS nodes using RecoveryManager Plus

A DNS zone is comprised of several DNS nodes housing domain-related information. RecoveryManager Plus can backup DNS nodes in a particular DNS zone and restore them to any previously backed-up state. This guide provides a step-by-step approach to restoring the backed-up DNS nodes using RecoveryManager Plus.

To restore DNS nodes in bulk in a particular DNS zone

  1. Log in to RecoveryManager Plus as an administrator.
  2. Navigate to the Active Directory tab > Active Directory Objects > Advanced Recovery.
  3. Select the domain that contains the DNS nodes you wish to restore from the drop-down at the top-left corner.
  4. Click the Start New Rollback button located in the top-right corner of the tab.

  5. In the Select Restore Point section, select the date to which you would like to rollback.

  6. In the Criteria Filter section,
    1. Click the Icon icon on the OU/Containers tile to filter OUs and containers.
    2. Click the Icon icon on the ObjectType/Attributes tile to filter for objects and their attributes. In the pop-up that appears, click DNS > DNS Node and select the attributes. Click Save.

  7. Click Save. The next screen will show the number of DNS objects with values that have been modified since the selected backup point.
  8. Narrow down your rollback search using the Filter drop-down menu.

  9. Click the Review option to view the objects and attributes that will be rolled back.
  10. Click Rollback to complete the process.

The DNS nodes will now be restored to the selected restore point.
