Microsoft 365 Group Creation
The Microsoft 365 (formerly known as Office 365) group creation feature allows you to create a single Microsoft 365 group and add members to it, in just a few clicks. The following are the steps to create an Microsoft 365 group.
- Navigate to Microsoft 365 → Management → Group Management → Microsoft 365 Group Creation.
- Select the Microsoft 365 Tenant and the Microsoft 365 Group Creation Template. To know more about group creation template, go here.
- In the General tab, configure the Display name, Primary SMTP address, alias, and other information like,
- Access Type - Set it to Public or Private.
- Requires Sender Notification -Set to True if you want the sender to be authenticated every time they send a mail on behalf of the group.
- Send Moderation Notification - To specify when the moderation notifications are to be sent.
- Always - To notify senders when their messages are not approved.
- Internal - Notify only the senders in the organization when the message is not approved.
- Never - No notifications are sent to senders when a message is not approved.
- In the Group tab, add members and owners to the Microsoft 365 group.
- The Exchange tab allows you to configure MailTip and Custom Attributes for the Microsoft 365 group.
- Click Apply to finish.

Distribution/Mail-enabled Security Group Creation
Mail-enabled security groups are used for granting access to resources such as SharePoint, and emailing notifications to those users. The following are the steps to create a distribution/ mail enabled security group,
- Navigate to Microsoft 365 → Management → Group Management → Distribution/Mail-enabled Security Group Creation.
- Select the Microsoft 365 Tenant and the Microsoft 365 Group Creation Template. To know more about group creation template, go here.
- In the General tab, configure the Display name, Primary SMTP address, alias, and other information like,
- Access Type - Set it to Public or Private.
- Requires Sender Authentication - Set to True if you want the sender to be authenticated every time they send a mail on behalf of the group.
- Send Moderation Notification - To specify when the moderation notifications are to be sent.
- Always - To notify senders when their messages are not approved.
- Internal - Notify only the senders in the organization when the message is not approved.
- Never - No notifications are sent to senders when a message is not approved.
- Member Depart/ Join Restriction - to specify the restrictions you wish to set on the join/ depart group request. It can be set to Closed or Open.
- Bypass Nested Moderation Enabled - Specifies how message approvals are handled for a moderated group containing other moderated groups as members.
- True - After a moderator approves a message sent to the group, the message is automatically approved for all nested moderated groups.
- False - This is the default value. After a moderator approves a message sent to the group, a separate approval is required for each nested moderated group.
- In the Group tab, add members and owners to the Microsoft 365 group.
- The Exchange tab allows you to configure MailTip and Custom Attributes for the Microsoft 365 group.
- Click Apply to finish.

Dynamic Distribution Group Creation
Dynamic distribution groups are used for mass sending of messages to a dynamic group of users based on pre-defined filters and conditions. The following steps will guide you with creating a Microsoft 365 dynamic distribution group.
- Navigate to Microsoft 365 → Management → Group Management → Dynamic Distribution Group Creation.
- Select the Microsoft 365 Tenant and the Microsoft 365 Group Creation Template. To know more about group creation template, go here.
- In the General tab, configure the Display name, Primary SMTP address, alias, and other information like,
- Requires Sender Authentication -Set to True if you want the sender to be authenticated every time they send a mail on behalf of the group.

Distribution Group Creation
Using this feature, distribution groups can be created in bulk in Microsoft 365 environment.
This report provides the list of all users present in your Microsoft 365 environment.
Steps:
- Click the Microsoft 365 tab.
- Under the management section, click on Create Distribution Groups link.
- Use the Select an Microsoft 365 tenant option to specify the desired O365 account.
- Click Browse to select CSV file from the saved location.Click Import Groups.
- Select the desired groups from the CSV file and select Apply to create groups.

- ApprovalRequired :Users can request to join the group. The user is added to the group after the request is approved by one of the group owners.

This value identifies the recipient as a mail-enabled object, and shouldn't be confused with multiple email addresses for the same recipient (also known as proxy addresses). A recipient can have only one Alias value. |
AccessType |
Specifies the privacy type for the Microsoft 365 Group. Valid values are:
- Public : The group content and conversations are available to everyone, and anyone can join the group without approval from a group owner. This is the default value.
- Private :The group content and conversations are only available to members of the group, and joining the group requires approval from a group owner.

Security Group Creation
Microsoft 365 security groups are utilized for granting access to resources. They can contain users, groups, and devices. Here are the steps to create an Microsoft 365 security group:
- Navigate to Microsoft 365 → Management → Group Management → Microsoft 365 Group Creation.
- Select the Microsoft 365 Tenant.
- Click on the Browse button to choose the CSV containing the names of the security groups to be created, their members, and other details.
- Select the groups you wish to create from the CSV and click Apply.
