Browser Router

About Browser Router

Browser Router in Endpoint Central lets admins redirect website traffic from one browser to another based on specific criteria. For example, if a company has a website that only works in Internet Explorer, admins can redirect users from Chrome to Edge in Internet Explorer mode. This ensures uninterrupted access to older systems and technologies.

Importance of Browser Router

Browser Router is crucial for organizations still relying on legacy web applications and websites designed for older browsers like Internet Explorer. By automatically redirecting users to Internet Explorer when accessing these legacy resources, IT admins can ensure uninterrupted access, prevent disruptions, and maintain productivity. This flexibility allows IT teams to fine-tune the policy based on their specific needs, minimizing disruptions and maximizing user experience.

Implementing Browser Router

Kindly follow the steps given below to successfully create and deploy the Web Isolation policy:

  1. Open Endpoint Central console and navigate to Browsers -> Policies -> Browser Router.
  2. Click Create Policy.
  3. Give a name for the policy.
  4. Choose the destination browser to which the pages should be redirected to.
  5. The web-applications can be entered in three ways:
    • Direct entry of the websites/web-applications: Select Enter Manually for Select websites to be routed and add the websites. If the the number of URLs is countable and can be manually entered into the field with ease, you can opt to enter the website URLs directly.
    • Selecting website groups: If you want a pre-defined set of sites or web-applications to be directed, select the particular site group instead of manually entering the sites into the field.
    • Intranet Sites: Select Intranet sites for Select websites to be routed to send intranet traffic to the desired browser. Intranet sites or intranet web-applications usually use old technology that hasn't been updated to the latest HTML5 technology and thus, it is better to route them to the suitable browser.
  6. Click the + button to add other websites to be routed to different browsers.
  7. Click Save to save the policy as a draft. Click Save & Publish to save the policy.
  8. Associate the policy to computers/groups of computers in which you want the isolation of web-applications to take place.
