Configuring Proxy Server

Proxy Server and its need:

Technology is moving forward towards the retention of an enterprise's privacy. Proxy Servers are the tools designed for this purpose. It acts like a protective bridge lying between the enterprise and the Internet. It creates a secure tunnel enabling the IT admins to develop an authenticated mode of communication to deploy the patches.

The Central Server requires a connection to the internet in order to perform the following operations:

  • Synchronize Latest Patch Details
  • Automatically Fetch Computer Warranty Details
  • Manage Mobile Devices

Central Server periodically updates the vulnerability database with the Central Patch Repository that resides at Zoho Corp.'s site. An internet connection is required to fetch warranty details and manage mobile devices. If you want to manage mobile devices, you must configure the proxy to allow connections reaching the internet. You can choose one of the methods mentioned below:

Refer to this document to learn more about Patch Management for Closed Networks.

Automate Proxy Configuration

Using this option, you can automate proxy configuration using a script. All the required specifications can be customized in a script, and the Proxy PAC URL can be specified. You will have to provide authentication details for configuring the proxy.
