Steps to convert a mailbox in Exchange Online using the native admin center

1. Log in to EAC and navigate to Recipients > Mailboxes .
2. Select a mailbox you want to convert from the list of user mailboxes displayed.
3. Go to the More actions pane and click Convert to regular mailbox to convert a shared mailbox to a user mailbox or click Convert to shared mailbox to convert a user mailbox to a shared mailbox.
4. Click Confirm, and the Mailbox converted successfully message is displayed on the screen.

M365 Manager Plus

Steps to convert a mailbox in Exchange Online using M365 Manager Plus

1. Log in to M365 Manager Plus and navigate to the Management tab > Exchange Online > Mailbox Management .
2. Under the Exchange Mailbox Tasks section, select Mailbox Conversion .
3. From the Convert to drop-down menu, select Regular mailbox , Room mailbox , Equipment mailbox , or Shared mailbox .
4. Search for mailbox(es) to which these settings should apply from the Find Mailbox(es) to Modify section and clickApply.

• Administrators need to be assigned the necessary role and permission to modify Exchange mailboxes and its permissions.
• Converting a user mailbox or shared mailbox to a resource (room or equipment) mailbox requires PowerShell scripting, which can be complex for non-technical users.
