Convert a mailbox in Exchange Online

To convert one type of mailbox to another, technicians have to use PowerShell scripts which needs expertise and consumes time. Microsoft 365 Admin Center does not have a built-in option for this purpose.

M365 Manager Plus, the complete Microsoft 365 administration and securíty solution provides the capability to convert one type of mailboxes to another type in bulk. The mailbox types handled by M365 Manager Plus include,

1. User mailboxes.
2. Shared mailboxes.
3. Room mailboxes.
4. Equipment mailboxes.

Any mailbox can be converted to any one of the above mentioned types.

Steps to convert a mailbox using M365 Manager Plus

1. Go to the Management tab.
2. Navigate to Exchange Online > Mailbox Management in the left pane.
3. Under the Exchange Management Task category, click on Mailbox Conversion.

   

4. From the Convert to drop-down box, select the type to which the mailboxes must be converted.
5. In the Find mailboxes to modify section, select the mailboxes to be converted, which can be done either manually or by importing a CSV file.
6. Click on Apply.
