How to search groups and members in Microsoft Entra ID (formerly Azure Active Directory)

You can search for groups and group members in Microsoft Entra ID. The table below compares searching groups and members in Microsoft Entra ID using the native admin center and M365 Manager Plus.

Steps to search groups and members in Microsoft Entra ID

Sign in to Microsoft Entra ID as at least License Administrator.
Go to the All Groups. Enter a search string in this page to search for a group.
You can sort the All groups list by name in ascending or descending order.
To search for members or owners of a specific group, select the group and go to the Members tab.
Enter a search string to search for members and owners.
You can also filter the members and owners lists by user type using the User Type column.
You can view the group memberships for a group in the Group Memberships page.
The Overview page displays the member counts for groups.

M365 Manager Plus

Steps to search groups and members in M365 Manager Plus

Sign in to M365 Manager Plus.
Navigate to the Reports tab > Azure Active Directory > Group Reports .
Select the All Groups report to view all the groups in your organization, their group type, manager, and email address.
Select the Microsoft 365 tenant and virtual tenant and click Generate Now to get the report.
Select the Group Members report to see the different members present in each group.
You can filter out the above reports easily using the filter function.

Limitations of using Entra ID admin center

Administrators should have the required role to access individual native admin centers and execute tasks in them.
Microsoft 365 does not have multiple pre-configured intuitive reports to keep an eye on group and member activity.
