In order to migrate from Slack to Microsoft Teams, start off by analyzing your Slack workspaces and narrow down on what needs to be migrated. Check your plan to know what can or cannot be migrated. The following are some points to keep in mind while migrating to Teams.
Exporting Channels
In Slack, users join a channel which is a part of a workspace and in Teams users join a team which comprises of channels. Any paid subscription plan in Slack will help you understand the necessary files that need to be exported. By default, public channel content (messages and files) can be exported, and based on your subscription plan, private channels and direct messages can be exported as well. Choose an appropriate solution to export channel content.
Exporting Direct Messages
Direct messages are same as Teams chats. Exporting them depends on your subscription plan and your request in Slack export. Currently, Teams does not support import of direct messages and this can be done using a third-party application.
Exporting Apps
You can check if the apps you used in Slack workspace are available in the Teams app store. If your administrator has restricted apps usage, you may not be looking at the full list of available apps.
Exporting Users
The identity schemes used in Slack might not directly map to Microsoft 365. Compare email addresses from a Slack export against Azure AD to help solve name ambiguity. If you have a paid Slack service plan, you can go to www.slack.com/admin/stats#members to get member details such as email address and account type for each user (for example, single vs. multi-channel guest).
