Certificate expired:Sync Operation

Problem

Encountering a "Certificate expired" error during manual sync operations indicates that the SSL/TLS certificate used by the server has surpassed its validity period. Consequently, clients and applications attempting to establish secure connections no longer trust this expired certificate.

Cause

The SSL/TLS certificate's validity period has ended, leading to its expiration. This undermines the trust relationship between clients and the server, preventing secure connections from being established.

Resolution

  1. Renewal Process:
    The administrator should initiate the renewal process for the expired certificate. This involves obtaining a new certificate from a trusted Certificate Authority (CA) or renewing the existing certificate if renewal is supported.

  2. Certificate Upload:

    After obtaining the renewed certificate, upload it to the server hosting the MDM application. Ensure that the new certificate is properly configured in the server settings to replace the expired one.
  3. Avoid Changing Certificates Unnecessarily:Changing certificates should be approached cautiously. Unplanned changes can disrupt communication between the MDM application and servers, potentially causing downtime or connectivity issues for managed devices. Therefore, ensure that certificate changes are well-planned and properly configured to avoid operational disruptions.
