AdventNet Inc Forms Alliance with QNX Software Systems Ltd

Partnering with QNX, AdventNet Strengthens Position in Agent Development Environment for Embedded Platforms.

Pleasanton, California, December 3, 2003

AdventNet Inc., the leading provider of standards-based management software for applications and networks, and QNX Software Systems, a leading global provider of real-time operating system (RTOS) technology, have partnered to address the requirements of agent developers who use the QNX® Neutrino® RTOS.

AdventNet Agent Toolkit C Edition is an ANSI C-based rapid prototyping and development tool for building SNMP agents, TL1 agents, CLI agents, and multi-protocol agents with SNMP, TL1, CLI, and HTTP adaptors. It offers an end-to-end development platform to compile, test, and develop agents with a minimal footprint.

The QNX Neutrino RTOS provides an ultra-reliable microkernel architecture with predictable real-time performance, robust memory protection, field upgradability, massive scalability, distributed processing, POSIX-based portability, and a high-performance embeddable windowing system, all perfected from over 20 years of use in mission-critical environments. The QNX Neutrino RTOS targets the most popular CPUs and boards in the embedded market.

"We are pleased to partner with QNX Neutrino to provide our affordable, standards-based, multi-protocol agent development environment for their widely accepted embedded platform. The AdventNet Agent Tookit C Edition product has been successfully deployed by many leading OEM customers. With our support for the QNX Neutrino platform, we are further extending our reach," said Sridhar Vembu, CEO of AdventNet.

"The remote monitoring and configuration enabled by the AdventNet Agent Toolkit complements QNX Neutrino's dynamic architecture, which allows virtually any software component to be remotely started, stopped, or replaced on demand," said Linda Campbell, director of strategic alliances at QNX Software Systems. "Moreover, the toolkit's low cost and small memory footprint make it a viable option for a variety of resource-constrained embedded systems."
