How to track printer usage?
Monitoring printer usage includes tracking the volume of files printed, who did it, and when. To track printer usage, perform the following steps:
- Click Start → Administrative Tools → Active Directory Users and Computers.
- Click the Active Directory container of the OU or Domain that you want to manage. Right-click that container, and then click Properties.
- Click the Group Policy tab, and then click New to create a "new" Group Policy setting.
- In the Local Group Policy Editor, expand the following folders:
- Computer Configuration
- Printers
- Computer Configuration
Computer configuration has various options to monitor printer usage. Configure the settings of your choice and deploy them to the OU that contains your printers by linking the GPO.
