Google Authentication failure

Problem

You have enabled two-factor authentication using Google Authentication but it fails.

Cause

You may face this problem if,

  1. Time correction for codes is out of sync.
  2. Incorrect date and time in the mobile device.

Resolution

Method 1-Syncing time correction for codes:

  1. Open Google Authenticator app on your mobile.
  2. At the top-right corner, click on the action (three-dot) icon.
  3. Click on Settings from the drop-down.
  4. Google Authenticator Settings

  5. Choose Time Correction for Codes.
  6. Google Authenticator time correction for codes

  7. Select Sync Now.
  8. Google Authenticator sync now

  9. Check whether the Two Factor Authentication is working or not.
  10. Method 2-Enabling automatic date, time and time zone:

  11. Open Settings on your mobile.
  12. Choose System and select Date & Time.
  13. Ensure that the toggles of Automatic date & time and Automatic time zone are enabled
  14. Restart your device.
  15. Note: For iOS users, go to Settings-> General-> Date & Time and set it to Automatic. Even if the Date & Time is set to Automatic, double toggle it. Then, go to Settings->Privacy->Location Services and set it to Always use for Google Authenticator app.
