A virtual IP (VIP) is an IP address that is not tied to a specific physical machine or network interface. i.e, Virtual IP addresses are loosely coupled, helping applications to easily decouple from one machine/NIC and couple it to another machine/NIC. It is generally used for purposes like failover, load balancing, or redundancy in a network.
To set up a Virtual IP, kindly contact your network administrator.
The Virtual IP is initially bound to the Primary Server (Central Server). If this server becomes unreachable, the Virtual IP is automatically transferred to the Secondary Server (Failover Server). Agents do not need to know which server is active, they communicate with the Virtual IP , ensuring continuous operation without manual reconfiguration. Endpoint Central Console can be accessed using Virtual IP.
When a virtual IP (VIP) is bound to a NIC, it ensures seamless failover in a high-availability setup. If the primary server goes down, the secondary server takes over by binding the VIP to its NIC. This ensures that the VIP remains accessible for client requests, maintaining uninterrupted services.
When selecting a VIP, follow these guidelines:
To set up virtual IP, kindly contact your network administrator.
Note: The ports mentioned under 'Server' must be enabled at all times irrespective of your license edition. Refer the ports required for specific modules and enable them as per your requirement.
