Linux ISC DHCP Server Monitoring

    OpUtils' IP Address Management enables you to monitor and manage Linux ISC DHCP servers within the IPAM console. This can be used to create, edit, or remove DHCP subnets directly and update servers automatically.

    Follow the steps given below for adding, monitoring, and managing Linux ISC DHCP server with OpUtils.

    Adding DHCP servers to IPAM

    1. Click 'Add' under the 'IP Address Manager'.
    2. Choose the 'Add DHCP Server' option.
    3. Under 'Add DHCP Server' select the required Linux ISC DHCP server in the 'Server Type' drop down.
    4. Specify the 'Server Name' of the desired server.
    5. Specify the Linux ISC DHCP server's console username and password in the 'User Name' and 'Password' field respectively, to login to the device.

    Note:

    • OpUtils' IPAM communicates with the Linux ISC DHCP server using SSH service.
    • To enable IPAM for DHCP monitoring, the server must have SSH service installed.
    • Linux ISC DHCP Server with SSH installed, can be added in IPAM using credentials of user with sudo access.

    Scheduling server monitoring

    1. Click the Settings tab to open the settings page.
    2. Select the Scheduler tab.
    3. Under 'OpUtils' click on 'DHCP'.
    4. Under Scheduler, create a new schedule and change the Status to 'Enabled'.
    5. Specify the interval to perform the scan:
      • Daily - to update everyday. You need to specify the starting time.
      • Weekly -to update on specific day(s) in a week. You need to specify the starting time and the day(s) on which the update should happen.
      • Monthly - to update on a specific day every month(s). You need to specify starting time, select a day and select a month.
      • Once Only - to run the tool only once at the scheduled time.

    Configuring alerts

    Alerts can be configured to be triggered via email or syslog, when lease utilization of the server or scope is greater than 80%.

    1. Click the Settings tab to open the settings page.
    2. Under 'OpUtils' click on 'DHCP'.
    3. Under 'Configure Alerts' enable the required alerts. You can choose to receive the alerts via syslog, email, or both.

    To view the details of a specific DHCP Server, select the server from the hierarchical tree. To retrieve the current values, select the DHCP Server and click Refresh. Select All to view / refresh all the DHCP Servers.To delete all the scopes of a DHCP Server, select the server and click Delete. To export the scope details, select the DHCP Server and click Export and choose an appropriate format.
