Configuring SAML SSO for AppDynamics

These steps will guide you through setting up the single sign-on functionality between ADSelfService Plus and AppDynamics.

Prerequisite

  1. Login to ADSelfService Plus as an administrator.

  2. Navigate to Configuration → Self-service → Password Sync/Single Sign-on.

  3. Locate and click on AppDynamics in the list of applications provided.

  4. Click on the Download SSO Certificate link in the top-right corner of the screen.

  5. In the SSO/SAML Details pop-up screen that appears, note down the values of Login URL, Logout URL  and download certificate by clicking Download SSO Certificate button. We will need these values in a later step.


AppDynamics (Service Provider) configuration steps

  1. Login to AppDynamics with an administrator’s credentials.

  2. Navigate to Settings → Administration → Authentication provider.

  3. Enable SAML.

  4. Paste the Login URL and Logout URL, copied in Step 5 of Prerequisite, in the respective fields. 

  5. Open the downloaded SSO certificate as a text file. Copy and paste the content it in the Certificate text field. 

  6. You can select roles and click Save. 

ADSelfService Plus (Identity Provider) configuration steps

  1. Now, switch to ADSelfService Plus’ AppDynamics configuration page.

  2. In the Domain Name field, enter the domain name of your email address.  For example, if you use johndoe@appdynamics.com to log in to AppDynamics, then appdynamics.com is the domain name.

  3. Enter the Account ID of your AppDynamics account.

  4. Provide a Description in the respective field.

  5. In the Available Policies field, click on the drop-down box and select the policies for which you wish to enable single sign-on.

  6. Click Save and log out of ADSelfService Plus.

For AppDynamics, single sign-on is supported for SP and IDP initiated flow.
