In the digital-first world, technology isn't just a supporting function but a vital player in an organization's success. This survey of thousands of executives and technology professionals examines the status, future, and risks of IT and technology use, specifically in large and
enterprise-sized organizations in the Philippines.
We surveyed 3,300 professionals working worldwide in IT and in other business functions. In the Philippines, 150 decision-makers across IT and other key business functions were surveyed from a range of private sector organizations. We've divided them into two broad categories: IT decision-makers (ITDMs), and business decision-makers (BDMs).

On the IT side of things, many ITDMs said that their organization uses advanced data analytics in its IT operations. The top two applications of analytics here were anomaly detection and forecasting.

While IT is still ahead of the other departments in the use of AI and ML technologies, these technologies are also seeing use in customer service, finance, and other departments.

The use of these technologies is not yet ubiquitous in the region (or globally for that matter). However, in the Philippines, the non-IT departments highlighted above are more likely to be using these technologies than their global counterparts.
This is the highest when compared to both the global average of 47% and the data from ASEAN peers like Singapore (48%), Malaysia (45%), and Indonesia (47%).
Both of these numbers stand out globally as well as in ASEAN. The Philippines has the highest number of BDMs relying on internal teams for training and the lowest number relying on online courses than any other country surveyed.
Though they're more likely to be loyal to their organizations than their peers in other regions, ITDMs in the Philippines give a lot of importance to some key benefits they currently enjoy. As per them, removing these benefits—like flexible work—could make them resign.

In the Philippines, IT teams have seen a major change in the way they work. Collaboration between non-IT departments and the IT teams has increased. Part of this could be driven by the decentralization of IT infrastructure. While this poses challenges in key areas like security, decision-makers believe that decentralization will help employees upskill, and also bring other benefits to the organization.
Meanwhile, the use of technologies like advanced analytics, AI, and ML is on the rise. Non-IT departments like finance and customer service are also making use of these new tools. However, a lack of training prevents employees from taking full advantage of the technologies in use.
