SharePoint Online license management
RecoveryManager Plus is licensed based on the number of SharePoint and OneDrive sites backed up. This section allows you to manage licenses and select the SharePoint and OneDrive sites that you wish to backup.
When you add any site to a backup schedule, a license is automatically applied to it. This section allows you to remove licenses assigned to sites.
The screen displays the following information at the top of the table.
- Total Licenses – This shows the number of licenses purchased.
- Used Licenses – This shows the number of sites licensed by the product.
- Remaining Licenses – The number of unused licenses is shown here.
When you remove a license assigned to a site, all backups of the site will be deleted from your backup repository, and the site will also be removed from any backup schedules. However, if you wish to retain the backups, follow these steps:
- Remove the site from all the backup jobs it is a part of. This will ensure there won't be any more incremental backups for this site.
- RecoveryManager Plus will monitor the existing backup file of the site.
- After 31 days of inactivity, i.e., if no incremental backups of that particular site has been performed, the license will be automatically unassigned from the site, and the backup will also be retained for future restores.
You can remove licenses assigned to all sites or just specific mailboxes.
