Troubleshooting Domain Controller backup problems

  1. Could not install agent on DC
  2. Could not contact the agent
  3. .NET Framework 4 not found

Could not install the agent on DC

Cause: Each time the domain controller backup runs, the product will check whether the agent has been installed on the DC. If it is not installed, the product tries to install it automatically. This error will be shown if the installation process was unsuccessful.

Resolution: Install the agent manually. To install the agent manually, follow the steps listed below.

  1. Find the installer named RMPAgent64.msi in the location <Product Installation Folder>\bin\.
  2. Copy and paste it in the DC which you wish to back up, then run the installer.
  3. Once installed, the agent will run as a service under the name "RMPAgent".
  4. Now, try the backup process again.

Could not contact the agent

Cause: RMPAgent on your server might have been stopped.

Resolution:

  1. Go to Run > services.msc in the DC and find RMPAgent.
  2. Right-click RMPAgent, restart the service, and retry the backup.

.NET Framework 4 not found

Cause: .NET framework 4 or higher versions might not be installed.

Resolution:

  1. Check if at least .NET Framework 4 is installed on DC.
  2. If it is not installed, click here to download .NET 4.
  3. Retry the agent installation after .NET 4 is installed.
