Busting cybersecurity myths in healthcare

Since the advent of HIPAA in 1996, several unnecessary practices have become mainstream because of myths associated with this regulation. Even now, many healthcare professionals still believe that email communication between patients and their doctors is prohibited. 

Doctors and patients can and do share health information through email. After all, it is an extremely quick form of communication. However, email opens up its fair share of security risks, and HIPAA does mandate that healthcare organizations safeguard all personal and sensitive health information to ensure it doesn't fall into the wrong hands.
