Prerequisites for high availability configuration
For mapping devices with high availability configuration, it is necessary to ensure that:
- Both the primary and secondary device should belong to one of the categories of devices that support high availability .
- The firmware version of both the primary and the secondary devices must be the same.
- The hardware configurations of both the primary and secondary devices must be the same.
- Polling is always done using an IP address.
High availability systems can be configured and monitored in two different modes; the active-active mode and the active-passive mode.
For active-active configuration:
- Go to the device snapshot page.
- Go to the settings on the top right corner, and select Configure Secondary Device.

- Set the HA role as Active-Active.

- Choose the device from the available list of devices, to associate it as the secondary device to the current device (the list populates only those devices that are of the same type as the current device).

- Click on Save.
- Check the configuration on the device snapshot page of the primary or the secondary device.

For active-passive configuration:
- Go to the device snapshot page.
- Go to the settings on the top right corner, and select Configure Secondary Device.

- Set the HA role as Active-Passive.

- Enter the IP address of the device which will act as the passive node for the primary device.

- Click on Save.
- Check the configuration on the device snapshot page of the primary device.

Steps to remove high availability configuration for the secondary server:
- Go to the Inventory page and select the respective device.
- Click the three green dots in the top-right corner, then select Configure Secondary Device.
- In the configuration window, click the '-' icon next to the IP Address and then click Save to confirm the changes.
