NTFS reports in ADManager Plus

NTFS permissions determine who has access to what files and folders in an organization. For efficient folder management, it is important to regularly monitor NTFS file permissions, access control lists, and folder permissions, and to specify the level of inheritance. However, performing these tasks using native tools like PowerShell scripts can prove to be a cumbersome process.

With ADManager Plus' Permissions for Folders report, administrators can check, analyze, and manage Windows access rights, folder and file permissions, and network-attached storage (NAS) file servers while executing the appropriate measures to enhance NTFS folder security. The generated reports can be scheduled to be delivered at a specified time and can be exported in CSV, HTML, PDF, CSVDE, and XLSX file formats. Administrators can also gain a comprehensive view of access control lists and ensure that Windows access rights and folder permissions are accurately assigned and managed.

Shares in the Servers report

  • This report lists all the file shares on the specified servers, including details such as their location, the accounts with permissions on these shares, their associated permissions, and the scope of these permissions (e.g., folder or subfolder).
  • Administrators can use this report to verify if only the desired folders are shared and gain valuable insights into the specified account's share access levels.

Permissions for Folders report

  • This report lists the folder permissions of all the users and groups for a specific folder.
  • The associated access control entries clearly indicate the level of access a user or group has on a folder, and any inheritable permissions are specified as well. Administrators can check for folder permissions at the subfolder level as needed.
  • This file and directory permissions report can be generated automatically.
  • It can also be used as an NTFS permissions analyzer to ensure that the right access has been given to the folders.

Administrators can easily secure their folders by monitoring NTFS security permissions on folders.

Non-inheritable Folders report

  • NTFS reports on non-inheritable folders list the folders and files protected from inheritable permissions.
  • With this Windows NTFS security report, an administrator can keep track of folders or directories and ensure that security is not compromised due to inheritance.
