Exchange Reporter Plus comes bundled with PostgreSQL database. However, it also supports MS SQL as its backend database. To start using MS SQL database for your Exchange Reporter Plus Server repository, follow the steps below.
Note: Since MS SQL isn't bundled with the product, you can either use the existing MS SQL Server at your end as the default database server or download it from the Microsoft website.
To use MS SQL Server that is installed in a remote machine, you must install the corresponding SQL native client and command line utilities in the machine where Exchange Reporter Plus is running. Choose and install SQL native client and command line utilities depending on the SQL version and CPU type of the machine.
Upon completion of SQL native client and command line utilities installation, you need to copy the following files from the MS SQL Server installation folder to the Exchange Reporter Plus\bin folder to establish proper communication.
The TCP and UDP ports need to be opened if a firewall is enabled in the SQL Server machine. The UDP Port is normally 1434.
