Belonging to the Cryptomix ransomware family, Clop ransomware is dangerous file encrypting malware that encrypts saved files by applying the .Clop extension. Clop ransomware exploits the AES cipher to encrypt images, videos, music, and databases, and to attach the .CLOP or .ClOP extension that blocks users from accessing their files.
A California-based information security and compliance firm, Qualys, confirmed that it was victim to Clop ransomware after its clients' files surfaced on a Tor blog site run by the ransomware group. Qualys immediately notified the customers who were affected.
Clop ransomware is capable of contaminating the majority of Windows operating system versions, including Windows XP, Windows 7, Windows 8, Windows 8.1, and Windows 10, which makes this malware one of the most dangerous out there. In this video, we talk about what Clop ransomware is, how it encrypts files, and ways you can stop such attacks. Watch the video to learn more—three minutes is all it takes!
