Unmanaged Applications: Request Access
Users can request access to unmanaged apps in Strict Mode. This acts as a bridge by offering access only to applications that are explicitly requested. Sysadmins will receive notifications via mail and can approve or deny requests based on justifications. It helps increase productivity of both the sysadmin and the users by enabling users to request access and administrators to qualify these applications based on the justification provided by the user.
How to enable Request Access
To enable Request access, the app group associated should be present in Strict mode with request access enabled. When a user attempts to access an unmanaged application while on Strict mode, they can request access to the application by providing a reason.
How does Request Access work?
- When a user attempts to access an unmanaged application while on Strict mode they can request access to the application by providing a reason.
- Upon requesting access, the administrator will be able to access the request from the Dashboard and respond to the request with any of the below mentioned options depending on the requirement and the reason provided by the user.
- Add to Allowlist/Blocklist: The user will be granted/denied access for the unmanaged application and the application will be grouped under allowlisted/blocklisted applications.
- Reject: The access request will be rejected, and the application will remain as an unmanaged application.
- Move to existing App Group: The administrator can move the application to an already existing App group.
Note: When a user requests an application, the permission is given to all computers in the specified custom group.
