Quick Recovery

This tab allows you to granularly restore all Azure AD objects to their state before deletion or modification.

Restore Azure AD objects

To restore Azure AD objects:

  1. Navigate to Azure AD > Azure AD Objects > Quick Recovery > Object History.
  2. Select the domain that contains the objects you would like to restore from the drop-down in the top-left corner.
  3. To filter for objects, simply click one of the tiles. The options include Total Objects, Total Users, Total Groups, and Total Devices. To filter for other objects, use the Object Type drop-down in the table below.
  4. Click the search icon to search for specific objects based on the Object Name.
  5. Select the objects that you wish to restore.

Restore deleted Azure AD objects

This section allows you to review the attributes of deleted Azure AD objects and restore them to the last known versions before the objects were deleted. This feature in RecoveryManager Plus is not related to the native Azure AD Recycle Bin.

Azure AD lets you set a retention period for the deleted objects. This prevents the objects from being permanently deleted for the set duration. Once the objects have exceeded the retention period, they will be permanently purged from Azure AD's Recycle Bin. RecoveryManager Plus allows you to restore objects that are in Azure AD's Recycle Bin or even those that have been permanently removed from Azure AD's Recycle Bin.

To restore deleted Azure AD objects:

  1. Navigate to Azure AD > Azure AD Objects > Quick Recovery > Deleted Objects.
  2. Select the domain that contains the deleted objects you would like to restore from the drop-down in the top-left corner.
  3. To filter for objects, simply click one of the tiles. The options include Total Deleted Objects, Deleted Users, Deleted Groups, and Deleted Devices. To filter for other objects, use the Object Type drop-down in the table below.
  4. Click the link in the Backup Version field in the table to view the attributes and the values of the objects that will be restored.
  5. Check the boxes beside the objects that you wish to restore and click Restore.

Note: If you have configured RecoveryManager Plus with a service account instead of a domain administrator account, you’ll be prompted to provide the credentials of a user who can write to Azure AD . If the account used to configure RecoveryManager Plus can write to Azure AD, select Use default domain credential and click Yes. If not, unselect Use default domain credential, provide the credentials of a user who can write to Azure AD, and click Yes.
