On December 7, 2018, Memphis-based Titan Distributors, Inc..revealed that customers who purchased goods from their online store from November 23, 2017 through October 25, 2018 may have been victims of a data breach. Information such as names, billing addresses, telephone numbers, payment card numbers, expiration dates, and verification codes of users may have been stolen.
According to a letter sent to its customers, Titan Distributors' computer system was compromised by malware between November 23, 2017 and October 25. While the company doesn’t store the information of its users, the malware was designed to access victims’ shopping carts to extract crucial details.
Titan said it has hired a third-party IT security expert to investigate the incident. In addition to that, Titan has taken steps to enhance its data security, including moving its computer system to a new server and resetting all usernames and passwords. Titan is offering free identity theft protection for one year for all impacted customers who made purchases online during the specified time. As a precautionary measure, Titan has requested its affected customers to review their credit cards for suspicious activity.
