OpenedFilesView is a *freeware that displays the list of all opened files on your system. It can also be used to close one or more open files or close the process that opened the files.

(*Freeware is software, most often proprietary, that is distributed at no monetary cost to the end user.)

The main function of this tool is to identify and close the file that is open when you get one of the following error messages:
  • Cannot delete [filename]: There has been a sharing violation. The source or destination file may be in use.
  • Cannot delete [filename]: It is being used by another person or program. Close any programs that might be using the file and try again.

Be aware that after closing a file using this utility, the program that opened the file may become unstable, and even crash.

  • 1Filename - Name of the file open.
  • 2Full Path - The path to the open file
  • 3Created time - Time the file was created
  • 4Modified time - TIme of modification made to the open file.
  • 5Attributes - The grants and permissions for the particular file. Example - "D" indicates Directory and "R" indicates Read-only.
  • 6Read, Write and Delete Access - If the user that opened the file has read,write or delete access.
  • 7Process ID, Name, Path and User - ID, Name and Path of the Process that opened the file and the User who created the process.
  • 8Shared Read, Write and Delete Access - If the file has shared access over the network for read, write or delete.
  • 9File Size - Size of the opened file.
