Configure before actions in transition
The transition section has two parts: Before and After. The Before part consists of the conditions on which the transition should be triggered.
To configure before actions:
- Once a new transition is created the Before and After sections will be displayed. Learn more about how to create transitions.
- Transition owners are the users who can view and perform the transition. The Transition owner option determines to whom the transition should be visible.
There are two options: Everyone and Selected users.
- By default, the Everyone option is selected. This will make the transition to be visible to everyone.
- The Selected users option will allow the transition to be visible to only the particular users. Here you can include multiple users, groups and roles as transition owners.
- To choose users enter the required email address of the user. Choose the user from the list.
- To choose permissions or user fields, scroll down the list and choose the required option.
- Criteria is the condition which determines when the transition should be visible to the transition owner. To add transition criteria, Click on Add criteria button.
- In the popup, enter the required criteria. Click + to add more criteria. You can also set logic between criteria using OR and AND expressions. For 'AND', every criteria must be true and for 'OR', only one of the criteria must be true.
- In the tooltip message field enter the message to be displayed when hovering over the transition. To enable it click on the checkbox. In the field enter the message to be displayed.
- The Require confirmation before execution option will ask for a confirmation before the transition is executed by the transition owner. To enable it click on the checkbox.
- In the execution message field enter the message to displayed requesting confirmation before execution.
Points to remember:
- Including the 'Require tooltip' and 'Require confirmation before execution' options is considered to be among of the best practices while designing the blueprint. These two options include an addition layer of notification and confirmation which helps prevent inadvertent actions by the transition owners.
