Regenerating a gateway server access key
An access key establishes a secure connection between the DataSecurity Plus server and the gateway server. It is used during the initial installation of the gateway server. If the key is compromised, you can regenerate it.
To regenerate the gateway server access key, follow the below steps:
- Log in to the DataSecurity Plus web console.
- Select Cloud Protection from the application drop-down.
- Go to Configuration > Server > Gateway Configuration.
- In the Gateway Configuration page, click Regenerate Access Key at the top-right corner.
- In the Gateway Server Access Key prompt, click the Regenerate Access Key to generate a new key. Then, copy the regenerated access key and update the gateway servers with it.
Note: The access key is common for all the gateway servers irrespective of which gateway cluster it belongs to. When the access key is regenerated, all the configured gateway servers should be updated with their respective new access key.
Updating Gateway Server Access Key in gateway servers
Once you've regenerated the key, ensure you update the key in all the gateway servers by following the steps below:
- In the machine running the gateway server, go to Services.msc and stop the ManageEngine DataSecurity Plus - Cloud Protection Gateway service.
- Run the Command Prompt as administrator at the <gateway server installation location>\bin (the default location is C:\\Program Files\\ManageEngine\\DataSecurity Plus - Cloud Protection Gateway\\bin) and execute the AccessKeyUpdater.exe file.
- This will open the Access Key Updater popup. In the window, enter the newly generated key and click OK.
- Go to Services.msc and start the ManageEngine DataSecurity Plus - Cloud Protection Gateway service. The regenerated access key will now be updated in the gateway server.
