Updating gateway servers
Automating gateway server update
To facilitate quick update of gateway servers, follow the steps below:
- Choose Cloud Protection from the apps drop-down.
- Go to Configuration > Gateway Servers page. Under the Health column, click Manage.
- Check the priority of the update in the Manage Gateway Server page. It is highly recommended that the IT team immediately push out a major update. The IT team can roll out minor updates with lower priority as they do not impact the functioning of the gateway server drastically. Click Install Gateway Server, under the Auto Install section.
- To continue without authentication, click Install. Proceed with authentication if the service account does not have sufficient privileges to remotely install gateway servers. To proceed with user authentication, follow the steps below:
- Click the key icon at the top of the popup, and check Authentication required option.
- Choose from Domain authentication (use an existing domain authentication or configure new domain authentication) or Username-password combination (provide the credentials of the endpoint in which the gateway server is installed).
- Click Associate to continue with the installation.
Note: Gateway server updates can be categorized into minor and major updates. Both minor and major updates bring performance enhancements. However, a major update impacts the gateway server configuration and its operations significantly, so it needs to be pushed out immediately. In contrast, even if a minor update is performed with a slight delay, the performance of gateway servers will not be affected. You can see the nature of the update in the Manage Gateway Server page (Cloud Protection > Configuration > Gateway Servers > Health > Manage).
Note: If the gateway server update is unsuccessful, retry by clicking Install Gateway Server. If the issue persists, write to us at support@datasecurity.com.
