Agent upgrade
The ADAudit Plus agent can be upgraded either automatically or manually.
Upgrade agent automatically
Automatic agent upgrade from ADAudit Plus server
ADAudit Plus automatically attempts to upgrade the agent whenever a newer version is available, provided the service account configured in the Domain Settings page is a member of the Domain Admins group.
Automatic agent upgrade from ADAudit Plus UI
You can also initiate the agent upgrade from the relevant configuration tab in the product provided the service account configured in the Domain Settings page is a member of the Domain Admins group.
Agent self-upgrade
If you do not want to add the service account to the Domain Admins group, you can configure the ADAudit Plus agent to self-upgrade to newer versions. This method operates on a pull-based approach, where the agent actively requests and downloads the ADAudit Plus Agent MSI file from the ADAudit Plus server periodically. To enable self-upgrade:
- Login to ADAudit Plus web console.
- Navigate to Admin tab > Configuration > Agent Settings.
- Under Agent Upgrade Settings, check the Enable Agent Self Upgrade checkbox.
- Click Save.
Upgrade agents manually
It is not necessary to update the Agent after every product update. Check the release notes to find out if a new version of agent is released and then proceed with the upgrade.
If you want to upgrade the agent manually, you need to first uninstall the current agent by following steps under Uninstalling the agent manually. After the uninstallation, you can follow any one of the methods described below to download and then install the new version of the agent.
Download the agent from installation folder
- Navigate to <ADAudit Plus installation directory>\webapps\adap\agent on the ADAudit Plus server.
- If the target computer is running a 32-bit OS, download ADAuditPlusAgent-x86.msi.
- If the target computer is running a 64-bit OS, download ADAuditPlusAgent-x64.msi.
After downloading the Agent, follow any of the methods under Installing the agent manually to install the agent
Download the agent from ADAudit Plus UI
- Login to ADAudit Plus web console.
- Go to the Configuration tab > Agent Management > Manage tab.
- Click Manage next to the Agent you want to upgrade.
- In the Manage Agent page, click Download Agent and then select the OS running on the target computer to download the Agent.
After downloading the Agent, follow any of the methods under Installing the agent manually to install the agent
