Configuring the user roles enables you to grant or restrict access to the users, depending on your network needs and preferences. There are five types of User Roles in OpManager MSP as explained below.
MSP Admins have unrestricted access to perform read/ write operations in OpManager MSP. They add/remove devices, troubleshoot issues, change configurations and more without any limitations i.e they have complete access.
This user will have only read access in the product and can view all the customer data and Central server data. The MSP technician user will be restricted to view the settings page and make configuration changes.
This user will have access to view, edit and delete selected customer data. The customer admin will be restricted to add users, customers and Probes, and also restricted to perform operations in the Central server.
This user will have read access to selected customer data and operator-level write access to perform operations such as Acknowledge, Unacknowledge alarms, Create custom dashboards etc. A customer technician user will be restricted to view the Settings page and to perform any operations in the Central server.
The level of access for users across different modules and add-ons in OpManager MSP can be customized individually through Custom User Roles. The different levels of access that can be provided in OpManager MSP for users through custom roles include: Read/Write, Read and No Access.
Furthermore, there are three different User Types in OpManager MSP, depending on the type of authentication:
These are the users that are created locally in the product. The credentials for this user are created locally and stored in the server. The password can be changed by the user and it can also be reset by an Administrator User.
Users configured for AD authenciation will be authenticated based on the credentials present in the domain.
There are users which are authenticated based on the credentials present in the radius server. Radius users should be created in OpManager MSP during Radius configuration.
Access to users is either provided for all devices by selecting the "All devices" option during user creation (both for Administrator User and Operator User) or it can be provided for selective devices based on the available business views by choosing the "Selected Business Views" option. In addition to this, access to add-on modules can be customized individually for seperate users in the Scope tab while creating a new User.
