Release Additional Fields

Release additional fields allow you to define your own fields that can be used to capture extra information while creating a release request.

Create Additional Fields

Go to Admin > Customization > Additional Field > Release and click New Field.

In the New Field pop-up, select the type of additional field you want to create from the drop-down on the pop-up header. Currently, ServiceDesk Plus MSP allows you to configure additional fields of the following types:

Text fields (Single-line, Multi-line)	For entering text or phrases.	Single line character limit: 250 Multi-line character limit: 500

Date/Time	Enables users to select date or time in specific formats from a mini-calendar.	-

Based on the selected additional field type, you can define the field properties using the pointers below as reference:

Field Name: Enter the name of the field. This is a mandatory field.

Encrypt the Field: You can choose to encrypt the field in accordance with GDPR regulations if it contains sensitive information or Personally Identifiable Information (PII). Data from encrypted fields will not be displayed in reports. Field encryption is available only for single and multi line fields.

API Field Name: API Field Name enables API access to the field. API field names should contain only lowercase letters or numbers separated by an underscore. It is pre-fixed by a specific term based on its type. For example, single line fields are preceded by sline_

Description: Enter a relevant description for the field.

Default Value: Enter a default value that will appear pre-filled in the form. Default value can be added for single line, multi line, and numeric fields. In picklist and radio fields, you can set an option as the default value by selecting the radio button beside the added value.

Fixed Length: Specify the number of maximum characters to be entered in single line and numeric fields.

Allow numbers only: In single line fields, you can choose to enforce only numerical values to be added.

Values: Enter the multiple options from which users can select the viable choices. You can import the values from XLS files or add them in bulk. Use the icon to sort the options in the order of your preference. You can remove options by hovering over them and clicking the icon. Available only for Pick List, Multi Select, Radio, and Checkbox field types.

Once you have entered all the relevant data, click Save.

Edit/Delete Additional Fields

On the additional fields list view page,

Use icon to edit an additional field. For single line and multi line fields, you cannot disable encryption while edit fields.

Use icon to delete an additional field. If the additional field is deleted, it will be automatically removed from all the release templates where it is configured.
